History

History of Rummy Game:
Rummy is a group of card games which are notable for game play. These games are similar to playing card games. Most of the people say that rummy does not stand for one single game. It is a term which is applicable for large games family. This family included few games like canasta, Conquian and Mah jong. Some of the following theories which led to evolution of this game are Conquian origin theory, Poker origin theory and Chinese origin Theory.

Conquian Origin Theory:
one among the earliest rummy games family was Conquian. Some sources say that this game originated in Spain. This game wax exported to Mexico few years ago. Most of the people say that this game has originated in Mexico in mid of 18th century. This game finally crossed into American south west countries and into Texas in 19th century. Most of the Americans used to call this game as “Cooncan”. It was also referred by some other names like “Coon Can”, “Coon-king”, “Coon-Can” and “Conkin”. In 19th century this game shifted from US countries to England and was called by a special name called “Rum”. This rum is an English slang of “queer” or “odd”.
